Reviews Concert Reviews Industrial Skinny Puppy Mythrus Tour 2007: Boston, MA 6-11-07
Skinny Puppy has gone minimalist in the Mythrus tour.

This tour is radically different from the last, being a slimmed down three piece with just vocals, synth, and drums, no guitar or bass. Did they pull it off? They sure did. They played four songs off their new 2007 mythmaker release, Ugli, Haze, Pedafly, and Politikil. Ugli was the highlight of the new album, sounding great live with intense religious visuals driving the beats. They did not play any of their classics such as Smothered Hope, Inquisition, Grave Wisdom, etc., which I can’t help being a bit disappointed about. Nivek Ogre spends the first 20 minutes behind a white blood covered wall, where only his grotesque silhouette is visible. The show really spices up as Ogre comes out of hiding, being the very visually stimulating artist that he is. He emerges bloody, covered in weird random wires and “things,” stumbling out…for life and death. The Skinny Puppy Mythrus tour is well worth seeing. The White Mice, an experimental noise band from Providence, RI opened up for Skinny Puppy, but their musical genre was not really a good match for Skinny Puppy.
