Listen to Neo Cortex The Band

Neo Cortex the Band has had several self –released CDs, with “Synapse” being the latest release in 2003. As you listen to the bands music you will hear many influences of synthpop pioneers such as New Order and Kraftwerk. Neo Cortex has many danceable electronics melodies that tend to have a softer and more romantic side. One of the tracks on the CD that is sure to catch your attention would be, “New Breed”, which has more computer generated sounds, and added effects to the vocals. By adding the effects that you hear t to the vocals, it gave the song an added attractiveness and melodic style. “Cyber Future”, had more of a danceable club feel within the electronics in the beginning. I would of liked to of seen this song have a more powerful middle section. The vocals had "more of a spoken vocal section. The lyrics tended to have more a of computer and technology focus that fit nicely with an electronic sound. “Theory”, has a beautiful musical melody that was very catchy to the ear. “Theory”, tended to be more of a slower and haunting track that was asking many questions that was looking for answers. “Stop Thief”, has the most powerful electronics, but I feel that the melody was not has catchy as I had hoped. This track has harder sound and it was a nice step with trying to being a little more edgy. “Understand”, was another catchy song on this CD, I enjoyed the more intense programming and the nice break for the bass to really come alive. I also liked how the drum programming had a small highlight within the song. Finally as I neared the end of the CD I found my single for the CD. I had a few songs in mind for a single, but this track proved to be the one for me. I felt that this song had all the levels, big bass, edgy electronics, danceable melodies, and well-developed vocals. I really enjoyed the vocal melodies, and really showed off the voice. Neo-Cortex the Band has the potential and heart and soul of being a successful synthpop group. All the songs are original and have a home grown feel. You can see the passion and love for making electronic music. With a few more muscle songs like, “Not for Mortals”, they will be on their way. www.neocortextheband.com
