Artist: Eye Kandy
CD Title: Erasing the Past
Eye Kandy’s album “Erasing The Past” gyrates with industrial heaviness, stylized electronic pulses, bellowing and empowering rock beats that compliment the vocals, and highly memorable choruses.
“Erasing The Past” is extremely catchy with its pounding drums, drilling guitar sounds, and edgy vocals that give this song its great energy, and vision.
“Piece By Piece” has a fantastic Depeche Mode chorus that really works well, solidifying the song its own flavor with an overall liability that made me continue to press play.
“Cold” with its amazing hyper-bouncy beat, surly is a fan fave a dance clubs. Another stellar chorus again highlighted with a Depeche Mode influence---awesome, alone, even more so with the talent of being able to make it a standout on the album.
“Last Night” a beautiful song, with rough edges, surrounded by a weave of colors wrapped in the dreaminess of the music, vocals, and especially with the chorus that has a haunting quality reminiscent of Nirvana. This is my favorite. There’s really so much personality, and feeling pouring out of this piece. I’m impressed---very much, actually.
“Come Undone” how could I not make reference to Duran Duran, one of my favorite bands, and for one of their most accomplished songs? I think Eye Kandy did a good job with the vocalization of the song, but it was with the musical arrangements that took me into a darker, more imaginative place.
