CD title: The Sun Comes Out Tonight
Genre: Industrial, Alternative, Rock
Released: June 4th, 2013
The Sun Comes Out Tonight is Filter’s sixth studio album. As a long time fan, I have enjoyed every album and every single Filter has released. One of my favourite tracks, being their dark rendition of The Turtle’s classic, “Happy Together.”
This new album gave me high hopes, and for great reason. This 12 track album beings with a bang, “We Hate It When You Get What You Want,” this is the perfect track to introduce listeners to the new album.
Some tracks are heavy industrial metal sounds, others verge on being soft rock, and others are a whimsical modernized mix of both. Filter is known for combing killer lyrics and to-die-for music to create songs of epic proportions. They always deliver exactly what their fans are looking for: great music.
I was surprised by the acoustic track, “Surprise,” it is different from previous Filter recordings, and yet it still has the signature sound that sets Filter apart from the rest of the Industrial scene. Some tracks to look for, the raging chorus chanter “Self Inflicted,” and the fast and fluctuating “What Do You Say.”
This album is catered exactly towards fans. It is Filter. Exactly as we know, and exactly as we love them. The album itself is a proud collection that stays true to the original raw and heavy sounds that define Filter.
A must own for any Industrial fan.
