Val Cain is a solo industrial rock project and is based out of Maryland. The album “Blood” features 19 sludgy tracks full of world-weary lyrics and celebrity aspiration. The album as a whole holds a slow-tempo and has some interesting ethereal programming. “Blood” is Val Cain’s second album.“Godevil” is a slow, meditative track with a certain effect, probably one of the better songs on the album.“Superscar” is a melancholy lament, with some nice harmonies. “Sinners and Saints” has some down-tuned  guitars and tortured vocals. “Machine” is an anthem to disorientation. “2:1” is interesting as an spoken word piece. “Fuckstar” is about as world-weary as it gets. “Virginia Tech” builds on vocoded vocals and a slow bassy groove, with acoustic guitars.   The title track has some interesting sampled vocals an orchestral touches. “Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah” features a memorable sing-along chorus., right up to the “oh baby.” One can’t help but think that this might have been a better effort if there was less a focus on quantity. With nineteen tracks, the album is long and the quality suffers.  It seems a vanity project that is somewhat self-indulgent.  Occasionally, Val Cain creates some interesting sonic soundscapes for his vocals, but mostly the album is just dreary.
