Reviews CD Reviews Industrial Promonium Jesters- EP 2010

Artist: Promonium Jesters

CD Title: : EP 2010

Label: P in a Circle Records

Reviewer: Robert Eaton

Date:12 01-10

Born in 1995, Canadian “psychedelic” industrial band Promonium Jesters plays fast-paced industrial rock that sounds like some of the best of Waxx Traxx-era industrial. Their four-song EP is a pleasant surprise compared with a lot of EBM/rehash-industrial that takes up space in the scene. The songs on this self-released EP are inventive, with an impressive rock-and-roll swagger. The track “Heart Beatings” seems obvious to compare to early Thrill Kill Kult. It’s a great track, and manages to do justice to its source-material without simply being derivative. “Rust (Long)” is slower and more ethereal, with an analog slap bass and interesting sampling. “Scar Master” is raucous and noisy, with wailing guitars and driving electronics. “Omnicide” slows the pace again, and is an instrumental piece. Promonium Jesters are angling to release a full-length coming soon, and if the EP is any indication, it will be worth checking out. For fans of industrial, or those bored with more of the same, this is a band to become acquainted with.
