This is a great album! Great riffing! The breakdowns are solid, but not consistently. Most are good, but I thought a few of them were a little week. Sonically, they remind me of As I Lay Dying’s “Frail Words Collapse.” By that I mean there is A LOT of promise to this record. It is a very good album, but I feel like the band will have more to offer on the next record. That sounds negative, but it’s not. What I am trying to say is a band of As They Sleep’s caliber will only get better with time. So get on the fanwagon now! As They Sleep naming the album as they did, is like future sight. Assuming As They Sleep continues putting out music like this, while progressing in an appropriate fashion, then a “Dynasty” is exactly what they will have on their hands. Their singer sounds insanely like the singer from Himsa. Ahhh google, you are a great tool… so they are not the same guy. Bridgewater’s lows remind me of Pettibone from Himsa, which is a good thing in my mind. As They Sleep is bound to take the metal world by storm. Metal Hammer magazine declared in 2009 that As They Sleep are “the next great metal band,” that says it all.
