For those that may not know, Suhrim is taken from the Necronomicon and is one of the many names for Marduk, a Babylonian god from Mesopotamia. "The Cunt Collector" is the third full length release from the Belgium death metal horde Suhrim which has been re-released on Shiver Records. Suhrim play a style of brutal death metal similar to what was being released by many bands in the early nineties and they do it fairly well. These guys are in no way newcomers to the death metal arena having formed back in '89 and the amount of years these guys have under their belts definitely shows. Sounding like a well tuned killing machine, Suhrim just rips through all twelve of the tracks on this album. With the twin guitar attack of Beuk and Jerre, they have no problem laying down riff after riff of pure brutality. As per the norm for this style of death metal, Paul's drumming is relentless and with frontman Johan's thundering bass lines and growls this is actually a damn good album. With song names like "Crushed Smashed Mangled", "Crushed Vagina", "Fist Fucked in the Throat" and "Wake Up and smell the Pus", Suhrim will be a sure hit with fans of Autopsy and Cannibal Corpse. This album may not have been noticed by many when it was originally released but after being remixed and remastered by CCR Studios it should garner some well deserved attention now. After listening to this album I'm starting to gain a lot of respect for the Belgium death metal scene, which I wasn't very familiar with until I started checking out all of the Shiver Records releases. Definitely check these guys out!
