In April of this year The Razor Skyline released “The Bitter Well”, which has so such power and attitude right from the start with the hit “American Tragedy”. This is the bands opening track that lashes out heavy guitars bringing out a more industrial metal side of the band. The electronics have a sinister sound and the mix of the dark electronics with the thunderous roar of the guitars gave an eye-opening experience while you were listening. Another aspect that I really liked was how they added the upward progression of the dark melodies. The synths felt like a strong breeze whipping against the aggressive guitar. It had more of a Deathline International meets KMFDM feel. I definitely wanted to turn it up even more once I got into the song. This time around, the band has a new female singer. The female vocals are amazing, and reminded me of cross –between Switchblade Synphony and Luxt. The band has many upbeat danceable synthpopish melodies through-out the CD. One thing that really sticks out is the combo of their dark electronics with the heavy guitar melodies. These sounds really bring out the gothic side of this band. These sounds also tended to be more aggreseive in style, best described as Curve with more heavier metal sound. I have heard other releases by this band, but this one I feel will have greater lasting memory for the music and what they have been able to create on the CD. Other songs I would suggest listening to would be, “Rebellion Lost”, “Run”, “Coopration” and “Freak”. Definitely a good artist for Cop International to have on their label.
