Artist: Monica Richards
Several months ago, I heard Monica Richards new song, "The Strange Familiar". Another Monica Richards song that I immediately fell in love with. The cello and drumbeat with Monica's vocals, and the lyrics "The only who knew me so well before...would you remember,?" touches deep in the soul. I couldn't wait for Naiades to land....here it is. It's here...it's a book, it's a story, and a cd - in this amazing package, "Waiting for a door to open and bring you home".
A masterpiece is born...."Scylla and Charybdis"- a Siouxsie and the Banshees/Creatures throwback and is oh so ethereal and tribal- "Sing hope and she may pull you down." Monica teases and has us riding on the heels of her long cape flowing.."you feel forceful and strong" she cries.
"The Mighty" a spoken word gem with veteran musician Marzia Rangel's cellos. So hauntingly beautiful. I do believe in Monica and we follow.....to...
Lureinlay...a lullaby to the soul....."I put them all to sleep. One touch of my voice then dead at my feet." I was entranced listening and listening again to this dreamy piece. Paul Mercer on Violin and Viola. The perfect fit. Monica Lure'd me in deeply.(Extra points for whomever notices the song within this song as well.) A gem.
Other artist mentions on this exquisite production....Steve Niles (Bass & Guitar), Chad Blinman,Bruce Bennett, Steven James, Davis peterson, Chandler Rentz and Motherdance productions.
Honorable mentions on this sea craft to heaven...."Endbegin", "Naiades" and the Bowie'sque (1970s/80s)- "We go on" - Monica says with wisdom" Join me in this moment..let it come....let it go...we are right here."
An album not to be missed...crafted out of paint, clay, paper, stars, mud and sea....what's left...the journey of a great artist...Monica Richards truly gifted in her craft.
