Album: Women and Satan First
Label: Beton Kopf Media
In April 2012, Rudy Ratzinger aka :wumpscut: released Women and Satan First, an album that ranks amongst the most furious :wumpscut: releases.
Spanning a career of over 2 decades and almost 20 studio albums, one might expect that Rudy Ratzinger would run out of ideas at some point. Women and Satan First show the opposite: never afraid of controversy and a good dose of shock value for your buck, :wumpscut: has again recorded an album filled with mean aggressive sounds and lyrics invoking sex and satan.
The sound of Women and Satan First is unmistakably :wumpscut: menacing, dark, groovy and filled with distorted humor, but at the same time the album sounds very modern with its delicate references to pop culture, hip hop and dub step.
From the opening shouts of “Hallelujah”, which invokes both nazi warcamps and black masses, Rudy Ratzinger alerts the listener of the crazy ride that awaits. The following “Women and Satan First” follows the classic :wumpscut: recipe – and it rocks like a classic :wumpscut:.
The most interesting track of the album in the 3rd “Death Panacea”: combining the undercooled atmosphere of Joy Division with smeared-out techno sounds and string synths, the track is both incredibly catchy and scary at the same time.
Of a similar exceptional quality is “Kill That Little Fuck”, which sounds like a condensation of all aggression in the entire world, right before releasing it on its final victim. The vocals cut right through you and the track itself is at most unsettling.
“Burial On Demand” and “Grobian” have a great beat and are ready for the clubs, while “L'Enfant Noir” is musical storytelling. “Blutsturtz, Baby” and “Cunnilingus Creutzfeuer” are not particularly interesting, but the final “Kaufe Deine Seele” grabs you by the throat and pulls you to hell one last time.
In short, Women and Satan First is a high-quality :wumpscut: album, which sounds familiar and fresh at the same time. If you can stand a good share of perverted, demented humor and sarcasm, make sure to give this album a spin.
