Artist: Funker Vogt

Label: Metropolis Records 2008

01. White Trash (Live 2008)
02. Thanks For Nothing (Re-Arranged 2008)
03. Black Hole (Re-Arranged 2008)

I have a clear memory of the first time I heard Funker Vogt. It was back in
2000 and by that time I had mostly heard synthpop acts like Depeche Mode,
Kraftwerk and Welle:Erdball. Even though I had heard some VNV Nation, Hocico
and Covenant, still I remember when someone played the album Maschine Zeit. I
had never heard anything like that before.

Now 9 years have passed since that experience and now I hear the new digital
only single from Funker Vogt from the end of 2008. It’s suppose to act like an
appetizer for the upcoming Live CD/DVD that is about to be released during
2009.

It all fires up with the new track “White Trash” and goes on with new remixes
of the tracks “Thanks for Nothing,” and “Black Hole”, both tracks originally
released 1996. Funker Vogt have become quite the Scooter of the EBM generation.
They release on a steady basis, but everything tends to sound very much the
same. “White Trash” is not different. The remixes are nothing that blows your
mind either, even though “Black Hole” has more push in it than “Thanks for
Nothing,” it is all together a really weak release, even for being a single. I
have a hard time to see that someone but the hardcore fans will be interested
in this.
