Mind.In.A.Box is a new artist on the Metropolis rooster. Mind.In.A.Box sure is a different type of electronic artist. The music and the lyrics are very detailed in every aspect. The CD not only gets you into the music but also your own head as the music and lyrics lead you to open up your mind. The vocals are sometimes robotic but, at other times, take more of a thick and dark approach that reminds me of Diary of Dreams. The lyrics seem to bring out the sadness and wonderment of living. "Lost Alone" is a very complex CD and has many elaborate dance beats. The programming structure is not your average bouncing EBM, but more intelligent programming that is carefully laid out for the listener. One of the standout out tracks would be "Change", which uses smooth dance beats that don't go over board but offer sensible melodies for dancing as well as robotic vocals. After a song with robotic features, "Falling" offers more spoken word vocals that have a weighed down feel surrounded by beautiful melodies. The main chorus includes “Why am I here?” and goes back to that wonderment that the CD has throughout. I feel the most upbeat track would be "Questions". That really pushed out true EBM. Overall, Mind.In.ABox is a breath of fresh EBM that is not your everyday EBM. At first, "Lost Alone" was difficult to figure out, but after few listens you will get the idea.
