“Not Worth The Paper” is probably the only song on DAX’s debut EP that will be of any interest to the average Grave Concerns reader. Besides displaying a hint of KMFDM influences, it was also featured on the Sony Playstation game In The Groove. The rest of this album is for the most part straightforward early ‘90s hard rock, more bar band than industrial club. While “Sundial” at least features some good vocal production, “Can’t You See” ruins a catchy if unexciting rock tune with a ghastly rapped bridge. “Lay My Head” starts out with some interesting percussion before turning into a big moping rocker in the vein of Soundgarden, while “Submission” fails to rise above its rock star posturing despite the use of industrial-influenced keyboards. Album closer “And The Band Played On” ends things on a note that’s at least somewhat memorable, with some nicely done vocal harmonies layered over a synthpop breakbeat, but by and large this album doesn’t offer much that hasn’t been done better elsewhere.
