J.Catala founded the band in Dublin (Ireland). Where he composed the first two Demos for CHARLOTTE´S SHADOW which included 9 and 5 tracks (some of the songs took part of the actual repertory of the band). Charlotte Keoghan (voice) and David Luciathe (piano) increased the members of the band collaborating with the song called “Hush”. The band got very good critics by the public that found great potential in the music.

April 2003:

CHARLOTTE´S SHADOW decided to moved to Bremen (Germany), Where the two following projects were composed - Now and Forever - and - In Heaven -, which was a very important period in the musical evolution of the band, that was the first time that the sinthetizers had taken an important place in the genre of the band. This created an intensive essence and atmosphere proving the real sound that the band wanted to communicate, obtaining good critics in websites and radio stations.- www.charlottesshadow.com Interviewer: "Donovan Tate"

GC: The band started in Germany. Why relocate to Spain?

CS: Actually the band started in Dublin(Ireland), but we later moved to Germany and then Spain (where we are currently based) in an endeauvour to explore new boundaries and experiences, and to attempt to reach a wider audience of goth fans.

GC: How's Spain music scene is different from Germany?

CS:With regards Gothic music I feel that both countries have similar musical tastes, combining dark wave, electronic, Goth, etc....But in a sense the Goth scene in Germany is still considerably larger than in Spain. In my opinion I feel that the true essence of real Goth music is being forgotten, or being left behind (if you like) by the new evolving of goth into industrial, and It is for this reason that Charlotte´s Shadow tries to return to something more raw or traditional.

GC: Some people may describe your style dark rock, new wave because of 80's sound. How would you describe your style?

CS: Our music on many levels has been influenced by the emotions that have dominated the early Gothic scene. I try to remain loyal to what I believe to be True Goth music, some people might categorize this as Goth/Rock because of the guitars, but at the end of the day what really matters is that people enjoy the music

GC: Why choose the name Charlotte's Shadow for the band's name?

CS:I chose the name CHARLOTTE´S SHADOW, from a Goth comic that I was reading at the time, about a girl called Charlotte who was been followed by the dark side of herself (her shadow), which she couldn´t shake off. And I think this represents well the sentiments of the band.

GC: The album "Love & Hate/No Tears" is very emotional. Is it about your personal life and love life?

CS: I think the Album represents emotions that we all experience from time to time – emotions that condition us as humans; Romanticism, sadness and despare. I think these are the most beautiful emotions that we protray in our songs.

GC: What's the whole concept of the album?

CS: As I mentioned above; romanticism, sadness, longing. I feels that these are the concepts that represent this album- and finding the beauty in despare.

GC: What made you get into music?

CS: I`ve been playing music all my life, and playing in bands since I`ve been very young. Music is a big part of who I am, and I could never imagine my life without it. I use it as a medium to express my creativity.

GC:Any other bands you used to play in?

CS: I used to play in many heavy metal bands until I discovered Goth music, that´s when I think found my true style. As it represents more the sentiments I had hoped to convey through my music.

GC: What's your opinion on today's music?

CS: Sadly, for me the music industry today seems to be more preoccupied with making money than expressing any real creativity. However I think that many people music still use music as a form of escapism from their everyday lives, something they can identify with; so in that sense it brings great comfort to people. This is why I feel that music is here to stay.

GC: Are there any messages you want the listeners to know when they're listening to your music?

CS:Make the music part of you, and your everyday life. ........Enjoy it!!

GC: The new cd is coming out. When is it due to the public?

CS:I hope in a couple of months, but that really depends on the label.

GC: Will the band tour and do club venues after it's release?

CS: Sure, at the moment we are promoting our first CD in Europe, But if the album gets a good reception in the U.S – then we as the band will consider doing some tours there.

GC: Any last words?

CS:Thanks to everybody that listens to our music and supports the band!
