Welcome to Grave Concerns E-zine

Grave Concerns E-zine is an internet- based magazine only that specializes in Gothic, Industrial, EBM, Electro, Synthpop, Noise, IDM Experimental, Post-Punk, Alternative Rock, Indie, Glam, and some Metal music. Julie Johnson began Grave Concerns E-zine in 1999 which has continued to grow ever since. Grave Concerns E-zine is located in Valatie, New York (Albany, Upstate Area) but is known worldwide. Grave Concerns E-zine has become well-respected in the scene and has worked with many talented artists.

On Grave Concerns E-zine you will find plenty of cd reviews, interviews and scene related news. There are also other special features such as: scene related articles, fashion reviews, movie reviews, book reviews etc. We also offer contests, giveaways, Mp3’s downloads, Last FM, InComing Fire Podcast, featured videos, rss, sponsorships, advertising, tour dates, new CD releases dates and more. In the past we have done interviews and reviews with models in the scene, but now only do those at a special request. If you want to see something on our page, let us know!

Grave Concerns E-zine is updated on a weekly basis and has gone through many changes to keep up with the scene and times. At first, Julie Johnson managed Grave Concerns by herself from 1999 until 2003, than she added her first few staff members, Joshua Heinrich, Marcos Massarri, and Matthew Johnson. Now in 2011, we have several writers working for E-zine such as Robert Eaton, Matthew Johnson, Phill Bruce, Steven Fearon, Michael Fearon, DJ Kantrip, Max Meyer, Michael Kurt, Ed Die, Reg Davey and Mirco Rizza to name a few. The Grave Concerns E-zine staff is located throughout the United States and Europe. Grave Concerns is always open to new volunteers to join our staff. Grave Concerns E-zine is a non-profit E-zine at this time and we do this all for the love of the music and scene. Please check out our “Work For Us” link to find out how you can become a staff writer.

Grave Concerns has done many giveaways, contests, sponsorships and other promotions since 1999. We have sent in items for giveaways at special events and have gone to many events to hand out free promotional items such as Alien Nation in Albany, NY. In 2010, Grave Concerns is an official sponsor for the movie “Dark Passages” from Outworld Entertainment. You will often see members of the Grave Concerns E-zine staff covering small shows and major tours, from NIN, Bauhaus, KMFDM, Sonik Foundry, VNV Nation, Combichrist, Uberybyte, 16 Volt, Nachtmahr, The Cruxshadows, to Lamb of God and Slayer.

Grave Concerns E-zine can be seen in the following books: Indie Bible and 21st Century Goth - written by Mick Mercer. Our name and logo also have been seen in many compilations and many albums over the years. Thank you for your support. Since the start of the Grave Concerns E-zine, the site has gone through 4 web-designs and upgrades to keep up with the times and site growth. Joshua Heinrich did 2 amazing designs, one in 2003, (which took the place of Julie Johnson’s original version) and again in 2005. Recently, in 2007 Grave Concerns E-zine was upgraded to CMS Joomla. The fun part of this change was putting 8 years worth of content back into the database. This site was designed by Westgate, but is hosted and maintained by Catalyst Marketing Innovations LLC. http://www.catalyst-marketing.com. In late 2010 and 2011 Grave Concerns has again changed and been upgraded. This time the site was designed by Espace Networks who will also be maintaining some parts of the site for us.

Grave Concerns E-zine released their first electronic issue which is be powered by ISSUU on March 3rd, 2010. We are very excited to be able to offer this format to our readers and fans. We will continue be update our site with our normal news, reviews and interviews weekly in addition to the electronic versions. We will be publishing four issues during the year. The first issue is going to be a “Best of Grave Concerns E-zine 2009”. The electronic issue features reviews, interviews from 2009 along with some new features that are found on the website. I am looking forward to this new direction for Grave Concerns E-zine and your continued support. If you would like to help us with the next issue let us know.

Julie Johnson started Grave Concerns E-zine in 1999 with the hope that this site would bring exposure to both big and small artists in this scene. She and the rest of the staff at Grave Concerns continue to believe in the scene and highlight the many artists out there through Grave Concerns E-zine each week. Please go to our “Meet the Staff” section to read more about staff members and or contact them.
